strangers on the street

The cars drove past, oblivious to the raised voices of the two pedestrians. She, with her stance strong yet her hands shaking, He, pacing backwards and around, trying to control the level of his voice and the strong urge he had to push her up against the brick wall a few metres away and kiss her passionately.  They were bickering about a minor event; their communication skills had never been strong and they often found themselves in this now-familiar position.

Yet the desire between them was palpable, I thought, as I sat outside a cafe nearby, musing on their behaviour. The way they moved around each other. The way she bit her lip when she looked at him.

He sighed, exasperated, turned and walked away a few paces, taking deep, slow breaths. She held her position, moving only to reach up and gather her dark hair and twist it into a coil, tucking it into a knot on the top of her head.

He turned, and I could sense his heart rate increase in speed as he drank the site of her in. Tall and dark, her dark wool dress clung to the curves of her hips and the rise of her breasts. Full lips parted to reveal brilliantly white teeth and a pink tongue that he just wanted to melt against.  They life together, I thought, and their relationship is a fiery one. She must be the bane of his existence each and every day.

She looked at him with fire still in her eyes, her breath still quick and her hands on her hips. She licked her lips, ready to rebuff whatever he had to say next.

His eyes were narrowed as he walked slowly towards her, the traffic and passerby’s melting out of his consciousness.  He loosened his tie in the next step, and before she could muster a word he grabbed both of her wrists, moved so he held them with one hand behind her, and held the back of her head with the other.  There were no words spoken. The fire in her eyes was still there, as his hand grabbed hold of the knot of hair and pulled her head back, her chin lifting and then his mouth was on hers, his strength crushing the distance between them to nothing as she surrendered to him.  Their tongues met and he drank her deeply, three seconds feeling like everything and yet not enough.  Always, more. She moaned, and the way his body moved against hers I knew he felt those vibrations through to his core.
